Graduation open houses

An ice cream truck for the graduation party.

The June open house is the hardest party to cater and the easiest one to hand to a coach. Guests arrive in waves across an afternoon, they are every age at once, and the dessert has to survive being outdoors. The coach parks in the drive, runs its hours and hand dips to order the whole time.

How graduation party catering works in a driveway

  • It fits where a car and trailer fit — a driveway, a cul-de-sac or a hall car park.
  • Its own power, so nothing runs off the house.
  • Guests serve themselves in waves rather than all at once, which is how open houses actually run.
  • Cones, waffle cones, floats and dairy-free Italian ice covers kids, grandparents and the lactose-intolerant cousin in one line.

Where it happens

Graduation party ice cream, in both seasons.

Michigan · the summer season

Metro Detroit, June and early July

The one private booking with real volume in the Michigan summer. Saturdays book first and they book early — a June date asked for in June is usually already gone, and the festival calendar takes the weekends around it.

  • Downriver open houses out of Southgate, the shortest haul of the season
  • Dates across Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw
  • Back-to-back parties on the same street, done as one booking

Florida · the winter season

Florida graduations, October to April

Florida's school year ends after the coach has towed north, so most Tampa-area graduation parties land in the winter season rather than on May ceremonies. If your date sits in the shoulder, ask early — the coach can sometimes stay a week.

  • Winter-season parties across Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes and Lutz
  • Spring dates depend on when the coach heads north — worth asking in advance

Have a date in mind?

Send the date, the town and roughly how many guests. Every event is quoted for the day — the occasion, the guest count, how long the window is open and the tow set the number, not a menu board.

Questions

Graduation parties — the usual questions

Can I book the ice cream truck for a graduation party?
Yes. The June open house is the hardest party to cater and the easiest one to hand to a coach.
Where does the coach cover?
Metro Detroit and Florida graduations. Both seasons are quoted the same way, with the travel included in the number.
What does the coach need on site?
It fits where a car and trailer fit — a driveway, a cul-de-sac or a hall car park. Its own power, so nothing runs off the house.
What does it cost to book an ice cream truck for a graduation party?
Every booking is quoted for the day rather than off a list — the guest count, how long the window stays open and the travel set the number. Cones, waffle cones, floats and dairy-free Italian ice covers kids, grandparents and the lactose-intolerant cousin in one line.
